Monday 9th May was the 2nd night of Blitz Table Tennis Club Championships. Being played was the Open Singles and Division 2 Singles. As the super league season is drawing to a close it is time to start looking at our club championships. Our club championships are open to anyone who is a member of the club, you can enter as many events as you wish, as long as the category applies to you. You can only enter 1 event per night. Blitz Table Tennis Club will be hosting a Junior League at Redlands Primary School, Worksop. The format of the league, where possible will be divisions of 5-7 players, ensuring all players have a minimum of 4 singles matches per day. Each match will consist of playing 3 sets where a point is awarded for each set won. After each days play, players will be promoted or relegated depending on points won in that round. On Sunday 21st November we took 2 teams from Blitz Table Tennis club to compete in the National Cadet League at Ackworth table tennis club. On the 6th and 7th November, Blitz table tennis club took a team of 4 players to compete in the Junior British League at Derby Arena. The players representing Blitz Table Tennis Club were Luke Hyde, Teddy Heather, Joel Smith and Abraham Sellado. On Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st October the Cadet County Championships took place. Players from blitz table tennis club made up 3 out of the 5 players in the Lincolnshire Cadet County Championships Team. There were some very tough matches for our players who held their own and fought hard for their team. Our players came back from the competition on a high, ready to put into practice what they had learnt from the weekend.

On Saturday 23rd October Harry Hollingsworth played in the Chippenham para table tennis grand prix. The competition had some strong players and once again harry showed great determination and fight within the competition. Harry won 2 out of his 4 matches in the band C event meaning he placed runner up in his competition. Micah and Joel Smith were out in force again, this time playing in the Stockton 4-star table tennis tournament. Joel partnered with Noah Vanhoorebeak for the team event, they both played well and gained some good wins taking them through to the semi-final where they unfortunately lost 1-3. Stockton was Micah’s first 4-star tournament, the tournament was a great learning experience for Micah giving him some good match practice at a high level.

On the weekend of the 25th/26th of September Blitz Senior players travelled to Halton Table Tennis Club in Widnes, where they competed in the Senior British League National C1 Division. On Sunday 10th October 4 of our players from Blitz TTC travelled to Hull where they competed in the Hull 1 one-star competition. Players in attendance were Joel Smith, Micah Smith, Martha Wild and David Melling who was making his competition debut. Four out of a possible six, of our Improver and Performance squad players have qualified to represent Lincolnshire Table Tennis Teams in the County Championships this year. Sunday 5th September saw 2 of our improver players represent our club, at St. Neots 2-star competition. It was their first ever ranking competition, after having made massive improvements during lockdown. Harry Hollingsworth, a player from our improver squad has been invited to train as part of the Future Stars training programme with British Para Table Tennis. Harry has initially been classified within class 9, with class 6 being the most severe standing disabilities and class 10 being the least severe. Following the last 18 months, where we managed to have a short time back training, practising and then competing, we are now back hosting our singles league. The league is a top table weekly competition, nothing too serious, but competitive enough to fulfil everyone’s competitive appetite.
