For junior coaching we have our very own performance pathway, which is split into three groups allowing for continuous progression from beginner through to elite. Our coaches strive for success, promoting hard work, team work and helping to develop each individual both on and off the table, whilst maintaining an enjoyable but focused session. Within each individual group we have our very own Blitz skills award program where players are aiming to complete tasks in order to achieve the award and progress to the next group. Each session is lead by qualified and experienced coaches who have coached and competed at high levels. Our sessions include a wide range of coaching themes, tips, drills and fun competitions. All junior coaching sessions are currently taking place at Corringham Village Hall.
Our beginner sessions are perfect for players that are new to the game. Within these sessions players learn the fundamentals of table tennis by participating in lots of fun games, bat and ball skills, basics on the technique and lots of fun competitions. The sessions take place twice a week with each session being one hour each, giving everyone the opportunity of two hours training a week.
Our improver squad is for our more experienced players, those who have mastered the fundamentals and are now looking to improve in the technical side of their game. Our improver sessions focus on improving quality, accuracy and game knowledge which is done through lots of different challenges and game based play as well as competitions. The improver sessions are a bridge between our two other groups meaning players will train one session a week with our beginner squad and then train one session a week with our performance squad allowing the players to make quick progress to reach the performance squad. This gives everyone the opportunity a total of three hours training a week.
Our performance squad is for our most experienced players. This group is for our players that are wanting to reach their full potential in their table tennis. Most of our players within this session are at county or national standard where they represent themselves and our club at high level competitions. Within these sessions players are challenged to push themselves to find out what they are capable of through competitive play, challenging exercises and fun activities designed to get the most out of our players. Players go out to national competitions where they receive corner coaching and support from our clubs coaches. These sessions take place twice a week where one session is with our improver squad, and one session is just the performance squad. Each session lasts two hours, giving the players the opportunity to train a total of four hours a week, on top of individual, match play and physical training sessions.
