With both teams battling it out in the 2nd division of the Westfield Region, and with two being promoted and two relegated at the end of the day, it was always going to be a closely fought division, and so it proved. Blitz A started the day off against a Wensum team, who had been promoted from division 3 from the last weekend. It proved to be an almighty ask for the blitz lads, losing 6-0, against a strong and confident team. In round two the local side were beaten 4-2 by Harborough TTC. A team consisting of county player Ben Tombs, however, Karl Wynne showed some good form for Blitz winning both of his matches, one of which was against the very Ben Tombs. Next up was Rougham TTC from Suffolk headed by another county player in Max Boulter. Again the local side went down 4-2, but with Steven Johnson and Jacob Marshall both recording their first wins of the day, was the tide turning in their favour? With relegation staring them in the face, they had to play a confident Blitz B, and what a match it was. Karl Wynne kicked off proceedings with a 3-1 victory over Reece Simpson, followed by what looked to be the closest match of the day. Steven Johnson beating Sam Mason 18-16 in the fifth and final game! This was then backed up by another close encounter with Jacob Marshall just beating Jack Senescall 3-2, for the A team to go 3-0 up. Sam Mason then pulled one back for the B team beating Karl Wynne in another close 3-2 victory. Reece Simpson then followed it up with an extremely close win over fellow club mate Jacob Marshall, winning 19-17 in the fifth and final game! However, Steven Johnson then sealed the victory for the A team with a comfortable 3-0 over good friend Jack Senescall. With rivals Ancaster Falcons next up and everything to play for, the winner of the final match stayed in the second division and the loser went down into division 3.  Buzzing from the previous victory over the B team, Blitz A went on to demolish Ancaster 6-0 and to stay in the 2nd division. Unfortunately it wasn’t the same outcome for Blitz B. In the first round, they got off to a decent start drawing with relegated team Ancaster 3-3, with all 3 lads chipping in with one win each. They followed this up with a 2-4 loss to Rougham TTC. Jack Senescall and Reece Simpson winning one each. The third round was a disappointing one, as they got thrashed by an excellent Wensum team. However, every single one of them put up an excellent fight against their closest of friends in the next round. They then went on against Harborough knowing that if Blitz A won, then Blitz B would be relegated into division 3. After hearing the result from the A team, Blitz B struggled through to another defeat at the hands of Harborough to be relegated into division 3. A fantastic end to the day for Blitz A but unfortunately a disappointing one for Blitz B.
